Prof. Dewey on Cardiac CT and AG’s patient in “Focus”-Magazine

How cardiac CT avoids unnecessary interventions – focus on research by AG Dewey.

We are delighted that the work of the AG Dewey at the Charité is featured in the section “Focus Gesundheit”! The article highlights how cardiac CT can be a promising alternative to invasive cardiac catheterization and offers insights into our team’s current research. Prof. Marc Dewey, head of our working group, explains in the article how CT can be a gentler diagnostic option for many patients could be a less invasive diagnostic option for many patients and thus make stressful interventions avoidable. The results of our DISCHARGE study, which we published this year, form the basis for cardiac CT now being considered as a possible health insurance benefit – a real milestone!
We are particularly proud that the article tells the story of one of our patients who we followed as part of our study at the Charité. Her experience impressively demonstrates how important early and less stressful diagnostics are in order to avoid invasive procedures wherever possible.

The patient was cared for and examined by our team – Anne-Marieke Stantien, Ann-Christine Stahl and Federico Biavati. It is a great recognition for us that our research and our commitment to patient-friendly solutions is now being made accessible to a wide audience.
